WILSON Dennison was unable to win his own race at Broughshane on Saturday but at least his horses are running a lot better now as the season is coming to a close. His black and white quartered colours were twice carried to victory at this Mid Antrim fixture.

With Derek O’Connor otherwise engaged, Mikey Sweeney came in for the rides on the Loughanmore horses and, having dusted himself down following his unseating in the first, won the next two races on the Colin McKeever-trained pair of Eskylane (Albert Bartlett five and six-year-old geldings maiden) and Broomhill (Raymart adjacent hunts’ maiden).

A double for Noel McParlan was initiated in the Doherty Woodshavings mares’ maiden on the September Storm bay Fyfin Patsy who is trained by Mervyn Torrens for Willie Craig.

This was a first point-to-point winner for the Co Tyrone owner, who is involved in show jumping where his horses often run under the Fyfin prefix, but he may not own the mare much longer as she is heading for the Goffs UK Spring Sale at Doncaster where she is due to come up as Lot 304. Fyfin Patsy was bred by Patsy McGillion out of the unraced Presenting are Poshly Presented who comes from the family of My Way De Solzen. Broomhill and Eskylane have also been entered at Doncaster where they have been catalogued as Lots 326 and 327.

McParlan bought up his double on his father Sean’s Royal Drumlee in the concluding winners of two which was sponsored by McBurney Transport, at whose Co Antrim base the point-to-point was held.
