AHEAD of the December Foal Sale at Tattersalls in Newmarket, the Ivawood two-year-old Sword Beach did his breeder, Colin Kennedy, a favour by landing an EBF novice auction stakes (a Plus 10 race) over a mile at York last Friday.

The chesnut, who is trained by Eve Johnson Houghton, is the second of four foals out of the Dalakhani mare Sleeping Princess, a half-sister to the multiple Italian winners and blacktype performers Saint Bernard (by Three Valleys) and Momix (by Selkirk). She is also a half-sister to the dual-purpose gelding Who Dares Wins (by Jeremy).

Through his family’s Meadowlands Stud near Downpatrick, Kennedy is selling an Estidhkaar half-brother to Sword Beach as Lot 637 at Newmarket on day two of the sale, Thursday, November 28th. The March-foaled colt is one of 14 lots being consigned to the sale by the Co Down nursery.

The other Northern-bred winners in the last week were in the National Hunt sphere. At Downpatrick the Molson Coors Maiden Hurdle fell to the Gordon Elliott-trained track debutant, Definite Plan. A seven-year-old by Definite Article, the bay gelding was placed once in seven outings in point-to-points between the middle of March 2017 and the middle of May last year. He was bred by Roy Wilson and is the fourth of six foals out of the Religiously mare Miss Kilkeel, who won over hurdles.

The Presenting gelding Make Me A Believer made a winning start to his racecourse career when landing the bumper at Chepstow on Saturday for the David Pipe yard.

The four-year-old was bred by the Enniskillen Campus of the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs which received €18,500 for him when he was sold as a foal at Tattersalls Ireland. Returning to the Co Meath sales ring as a three-year-old, the brown gelding was knocked down for €65,000 to Milestone Stables.

Make Me A Believer is the second of six foals out of the unraced Robin Des Champs mare Kiltiernan Robin who comes from the good French jumping family of Razzamatazz, Pampalino, Ladies Choice, etc.

Kiltiernan Robin’s first foal is the 2014 Stowaway gelding King Roland who won a point-to-point maiden in March last year on his sole start for the Tom Lacey yard and has since won bumpers at Uttoxeter and Ffos Las on his two outings for Harry Fry.

CAFRE is selling two progeny out of Kiltiernan Robin at the upcoming Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale, a chesnut yearling colt by Shantou (Lot 10) and a bay filly foal by Getaway (Lot 159).
