Sneaky Getaway steals the show

THE classy Sneaky Getaway was the star of the show at the track’s only flat fixture of the year as the Emmet Mullins inmate hardly broke sweat in landing the Assembly Techniques Handicap over two miles.

The Margaret O’Rourke-owned dual bumper winner lined up here with a rating of 88 after a good second to Hasanabad in a Galway conditions race and was returned the even-favourite to deal with his three rivals.

He cruised through the race under the trainer’s first cousin, Danny Mullins, and after easing to the front with over a furlong to run he was unextended to defeat Jake Peter by an impressive four and a quarter lengths. A tilt at the Cesarewitch at Newmarket could be next for the winner who is shaping up to be quite a high-class performer under both codes.

There were 10 jockeys who rode at both Cork and Tramore last Saturday but Ronan Whelan was the only one to strike at both meetings. After winning a sprint on Noirvento at Cork, he later followed-up on the reliable hold-up horse Edification (3/1) in the Hibernian Hotel Tramore Handicap.

This was a second win of the season for the Mark Fahey inmate who got the better of Greenpanda inside the distance to win by two and a half lengths. Fahey trains the top-weight for Michelle Murray.
