PHILLIP Enright rode the Grade 3 Horse & Jockey Hotel Hurdle victor Davids Charm and went on to land a 14/1 double on Super Sunday at Tipperary.

Tralee man Enright arrived at ‘the junction’ after a couple of recent winners and his confidence shone through on both Davids Charm and on his other winner, Share The Honour.

Davids Charm sat off an unsustainable pace set by the other market principals, Petit Mouchoir and Ballyoisin, and the 6/4 favourite graduated to graded company with flying colours to easily beat Plinth by 12 lengths.”

Trainer John Joe Walsh said: “Phillip Enright gave him a great ride. He said it was like a bit of work for him. They went hard up front, and Phillip was happy to sit off it and let him ease into the race.

“He had no hard race and provided he has come out of it okay, he will go for the Cesarewitch next Sunday.

“He’s been some horse for us. Before today, he had about €230,000 won between everything and another almost 40 grand today.”

Jake Peter (6/5 favourite) was all the rage for the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands Hotel Adare Handicap Hurdle but couldn’t get the Not Even Maybe Syndicate-owned and Tony Martin-trained Share The Honour (5/1) off the bridle going to the last.

When Enright asked his mount to pick up on the run-in, the response from the Shamardal gelding saw him clear away to win by two and a half lengths.

Share The Honour is a six-year-old son of the Dubai Destination mare Hometime and this was his third career win, his first over hurdles.

In-form conditional jockey Kevin Brouder rode his first graded winner on Turnpike Trip in the Grade 3 Joe Mac Novice Hurdle, a race where Padraig Roche cruelly lost the horse that delivered him his initial success at this level, Way Back Home.

Thankfully, Mark Walsh was up and okay after a heavy penultimate flight fall, but Way Back Home wasn’t so fortunate.

Turnpike Trip was in command when getting the last wrong, landing very awkwardly. To his great credit, the son of Champs Elysees got going well enough again to ward off the danger posed by Razoul. Half a length split them.

“The owners (DIPs Partnership) were keen to give Kevin (unable to claim his 5lb allowance) the chance. I said to give him the chance as he got on well with him the last day. He rides him out at home so that means a bit too,” said successful handler Charles Byrnes.

Prolific Robin too good for De Bromhead duo

WILLIE Mullins ran three in the Grade 3 Like A Butterfly Novice Chase and his Robin De Carlow upstaged Henry de Bromhead’s pair, Put The Kettle On and Moon Over Germany.”

There was half a length between the mares at the head of affairs and Danny Mullins rode 5/1 shot Robin De Carlow for the Supreme Horse Racing Club and Brett Graham.

The winning rider suggested that there are “plenty of options” for the Robin Des Champs mare now.

Robin De Carlow has now won eight times from 14 starts and she should be a force in mares’ graded races this term. The same can be said for the much improved runner-up who came here following a hat-trick of wins.

Owner Seamus Casey and trainer John Ryan have plenty to look forward to judging by The Little Yank’s performance in the Peppermill Restaurant Nenagh (C & G) (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race.

Liam Quinlan guided the Westerner gelding home with seven and a half lengths to spare over market-rival Escaria Ten.

Ryan said of the 5/4 favourite: “He is a real proper one. I had Foildubh who was rated 154 and had other good horses in my time but this is the best of them all.

“I bought him from a good friend of mine, Morgan Cahalan (breeder). He is 16 hands but is so stocky he doesn’t show his height.”

Fairy goes back-to-back

ON her first start for Jim Bolger, Yulong Gold Fairy (5/1) went back-to-back in the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes under Kevin Manning.

The daughter of Mount Nelson consigned her former stable companion, Dermot Weld’s Imaging, to second place, at a distance of three parts of a length.

Yulong Gold Fairy completed back-to-back wins in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes, this time for Kevin Manning and Jim Bolger \Healy Racing.

Yulong Gold Fairy got a smack from Oisin Orr’s whip on Imaging, as the pair battled it out a furlong and a half out.

Zhang Yuesheng owns the filly and Manning reflected: “She did it very well and seems to handle the ground well. She was very straightforward.”

On an afternoon where Albigna was doing them proud over at ParisLongchamp, the Jessica Harrington team struck with Michael Cooke’s Onlyhuman (8/1) in TheTote.com Handicap.

Slow starter and fast finisher Dare To Flare did best of the rest, but Onlyhuman was a convincing three-length winner.

“It is great to be a small part of a big team (Harrington’s),” remarked winning jockey Tom ‘Socks’ Madden in the aftermath.

Andrew Slattery’s Sunchart, coincidentally a half-sister to Share The Honour who won over hurdles on this card, won the opening Athassel House Stud Irish EBF Maiden to get favourite backers off to a good start.

Building on a promising Listowel second placing on her debut, the Pat Garvey-owned juvenile easily defeated Sacramento by four and three-quarter lengths.

Ben Coen did the steering for Slattery, his uncle, and the 2020 Investec Derby entrant could have another outing this term in the Group 3 Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown on October 26th.
