P ETER Fahey is enjoying his best ever season and he was due to run the progressive Peregrine Run in a novice hurdle at Cheltenham yesterday. The son of King’s Theatre has improved 27lbs since last May and the manner of his most recent success at Limerick, suggests that there is more to come from the six-year-old.

“They have been running well and we’ve had a good season and we have some nice horses to run over the winter. We have a few real nice young bumper horses and we’ll get them out fairly soon and I think they will be competitive in bumpers over the winter.

“I have great staff and owners and without them I’d be lost. I have some lovely three-year-olds that are broken and tipping away and we’ll let them find their feet, but a few of them go well and some of them are for sale.”

“We have sold some promising young horses. You’d love to keep them, but you have to let some of them go,” Fahey said.

Miss Tynte was sold after finishing second in a bumper at Punchestown to David Pipe. Big Meadow was sold after winning his point-to-point and he has since won his bumper for Neil King and we got a great kick out of seeing Obviously (who won twice for us) win The Breeders Cup Sprint at the weekend.”

Tim O’Driscoll

He is a very nice horse owned by Tim O’Driscoll who sponsors a few of the jockeys and is a great man to have in the yard.I like this horse and he will go for a bumper fairly soon.

He has won his first two chases and I thought it was a very good performance to win a listed race at Wexford on just his second start. He is better going left-handed. His next run will be in a graded chase at Doncaster in December and I think he will continue to improve. He jumps great and he handles any ground. Long term, we would love to aim him at something nice next spring, but he yet has to get a mark over fences.I’d imagine that we’ll keep him to novice company for the time being and we’ll keep him to small fields.

He ran a very nice race when second to what looked a good horse of Gordon’s in a maiden hurdle at Galway. He will go for a maiden hurdle at Cork on Sunday week and I think he will improve when he races on soft ground – it was lively enough for him at Galway. I think he’ll get further than two miles. He won a bumper for Colm Murphy and he just had a few little niggly problems which kept him off for a while.

She’s had three nice runs in maidens and I’d like to try her in Dundalk. She should have no problem winning a maiden in the coming weeks.

NIAMH’S WISH

Kalanisi – Dame Tori

She is a nice filly who will start off in a bumper in the next few weeks.

We bought her from Aidan Fitzgerald and she had a nice bit done before we bought her.

She will take her first run, but I think she can win her bumper and develop into a nice horse for the winter.

DARCELLYEANN

Yeats – Clonloo Lady

Gerry O’Dowd

A half-sister to Grade 1 winner Mariah Rollins. She ran very green on her debut when it looked as if she was going to run a nice race at Navan. She’s not overbig, but she has improved for that run.

Patrick K McCarthy

He ran very well when second to Identity Thief over fences at Punchestown and I’d say the race came too soon for him when he was fourth the other day at Naas.

He wins a couple for us every year and he should be able to win his beginners chase and progress from there.

He is better than his last run and he will get another chance to win his beginners and after that he will go handicapping. I think he’ll be a better horse over fences and the ground doesn’t really matter to him – he goes on anything.

He won the Grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham yesterday and we are dreaming of coming back here in March for the big festival after that.

He will run until the ground gets heavy. He turned a corner and hasn’t stopped improving all season and he has developed into a very good horse. He just took a bit of time to come to hand but he is out of a good mare.

Once the ground isn’t heavy it will be fine for him. He’ll be kept on the go for a while.

Artan - Colbinstown Pearl

Two Six Six Syndicate He is a grand horse to have about the place and he rarely runs a bad race.

He has won a couple for us and he seems to handle any ground and he will run away in handicap hurdles over two and a half miles plus for the winter.

He has had one run over fences, he will mix it for the winter and he should be competitive in his own grade over fences.

She has won two for us this year and she will go for a maiden at Dundalk. She ran very well in a maiden at Listowel and the winner was sold for a lot of money and on the basis of that run, I’d like to think that she can win a little maiden up there and then we’ll give her a break and bring her back for a spring campaign.

She has been doing things right at home and she’ll run in Dundalk in the coming weeks, but I think her future is over hurdles. I like her.

He has been a bit frustrating. I’d love to win a little race for the syndicate. We’ll get him going after Christmas in Dundalk.

A half-sister to Bordini. I think she will shape up into a nice filly on soft ground.

She isn’t too far off a run and is doing everything right at home. She will more than likely start off in a bumper.

XSQUARED

Exceed And Excel – Jemalina

The Adders Partnership

He won five in a row for us over the summer and he is on a well-earned break. We’ll bring him back in after Christmas.

He is still a novice (over fences) so he could run in a nice race in the spring. Not many win five in a row and he is a smashing horse to have around the place, but he does need good ground.

FRAZEL EXPRESS

Mrs S Doyle

A very nice filly who has won her bumper and I think she has a bright future.

She has schooled well over hurdles and ideally she’d like a bit of nice ground.

She is on a break and we’ll have her back around February.
