PETER Fahey has enjoyed a fine season to date. The marvellous Peregrine Run won six races in what has been a very fruitful campaign to date. He is back in training after a mid-winter break and the 10-year-old will be aimed at the Grand National.

Soviet Pimpernel looked smart when he won a Grade 3 novice hurdle at Limerick at Christmas time and the son of Elusive Pimpernel heads to Leopardstown for the Dublin Racing Festival where he holds an entry in the Grade 1 two-mile novice hurdle.

“We have a nice team of young horses, some of which will go the point-to-point route, but a number of them are showing enough pace to suggest that they’ll be competitive in bumpers,” stated Fahey.

“We have great owners and staff and it’s great to have horses like Peregrine Run who heads to Aintree for the National. Soviet Pimpernel got back on track when he won that good graded hurdle at Limerick and unless he’s sold in the meantime, he’ll go to Leopardstown for the Dublin Racing Festival, more than likely for the Grade 1 novice hurdle.”

He’s a cracking horse who had a great first run behind Captain Guinness at Navan and that form has worked out very well, with the winner running such a good race in a graded hurdle at Punchestown last weekend. I thought he might have won had he not fallen the last day at Cork, and there is a chance that he might be sold as he goes to the sales. I’ll be sorry to lose him if he is sold. I think he could develop into a good novice hurdler.

He won well for us at Fairyhouse and he loves soft ground. He was a bit unlucky after that at Punchestown where he got no cover and we’ll find a handicap hurdle for him in the next couple of weeks. He’s a progressive horse that we like.

He has taken well to fences and is on a break. We’ll have him back to run in novice handicap chases in the spring.

He won his point-to-point before we got him and he ran a lovely race in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse. He’s a chaser and you won’t see the best of him until next year. I’d imagine that he’ll jump a fence later on this year.

He has been placed in two above average bumpers and he’s a big horse, so we’ll look for another bumper for him before the end of the season. I think a lot of him and I can see him developing into a very nice horse over hurdles and fences. He stays well.

She is a great mare to have and it was unfortunate for everyone connected to her that she picked up a minor injury which ruled her out of action for this season. Her prognosis is good, so we look forward to having her back. She remains a very exciting mare.

She’s a half-sister to Peregrine Run and she won her bumper in good style on her only start last year. The plan for her is the listed mares’ bumper at Aintree and she could go straight there. Like her half-brother, she prefers a bit of nice ground and she is a mare that we like.

She won her bumper first time out at Cork last year. She is a fine, big mare, but it is just taking her a while to find her feet over hurdles.

She was a consistent mare in bumpers and we were delighted when she won her maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse. She may have found the ground too testing the last day and she is better than that. We’ll wait for the ground to dry out before she runs again.

He has been a great servant and we have gone the point-to-point route with him this season with a view to getting him qualified for the Foxhunters at Cheltenham. He ran a cracker at the weekend when third in the open at Tinahely and that was his first run since August. We’ll find something similar for him reasonably soon.

He’s a nice horse who ran a lovely race on his first start for us when third in what was a competitive handicap at Thurles. He is a not a horse which would appreciate this soft ground, so we’ll wait for conditions to improve before he runs again.

He’s been a terrific servant and was better than ever last year, winning five in a row. He was placed in the Galway Plate and has won 16 races to date. We gave him a little break before Christmas and he came back into training last week. He’s in great form and the plan for him is Grand National.

He joined us after he was bought out of Willie Mullins’ last October. He looks a grand dual-purpose horse and is an ideal type for the spring and summer festivals. Hopefully he’ll give his new owners plenty of fun.

He’s a smashing horse. It was great to see him win that graded hurdle at Limerick and I knew after he ran in the Royal Bond that he was much better than that. He has the option of running in the Grade 1 two-mile novice hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival and he’ll be one that will be competitive at all the spring festivals. If he’s not sold, I’d love to keep him the yard, as I think he’s the type what will improve with racing. I’d say he’ll be better on better ground and he’s a proper two-miler with loads of pace.

He developed into a good horse for us last season and rounded off last season when second in the Red Mills Final at the Punchestown Festival. He picked up a knock when schooling over fences so we have had to take our time with him but he is back exercising again now and if all goes well, he’ll be out before the end of the season.

She’s been very consistent, but she just races behind the bridle for the first half of her races, which doesn’t help her. We’ll step her up in trip for her maiden hurdle. She’s smart and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she ended up a blacktype mare. She handles soft ground.

She picked up blacktype when she was second in a listed bumper at Navan last year. She is a fine, big mare, but she was just a bit fresh on her first run back after a break at Fairyhouse. She will pay her way over hurdles and is likely to run in another maiden hurdle shortly.

She’s a nice big, well-bred filly that goes well that is starting to come to hand and we might get her going in a bumper reasonably soon.
