A SECOND Cirrus Des Aigles is waiting in the wings judging by the way Solow won the Group 2 Qatar Prix Daniel Wildenstein.

The son of Singspiel was gelded on July 31 2013 and has since won five of his six races. He was unplaced in the 15 1/2 furlong Prix Vicomtesse Vigier in May and has now won two Group events since being raced over a mile. The first was the Prix Quincey at Deauville and now the Daniel Wildenstein which he lifted in style in the hands of Olivier Peslier.

Waited with on this occasion, Solow started to glide past his rivals from two out and collared Veda 100 metres from the post before going on to win by half a length and the German miler Sommerabend took third place ahead of Kenhope.

“He could turn into a group one horse,” commented Freddy Head before adding: “Solow’s a very generous horse and had a perfect race today. He’s normally up with the pace and was slowly away today after being hampered. Much calmer now, he can travel and we will be looking at Hong Kong and then Dubai. He will of course remain in training next year.” Peslier added: “We now have a Cirrus in the stable. I didn’t bustle him after our slow start and he came with a lovely long run in the straight.”

Considering Veda had not raced since June 1st, it was a fine performance to finish second to Solow. The daughter of Dansili had run second to Avenir Certain in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and she is now back to that form.

Alain de Royer-Dupré said: “The filly ran really well and she was up against a group one horse.” Christophe Soumillon added: “We were cantering halfway up the straight and were beaten by a very very good horse. Veda’s comeback was almost too good.”

The daughter of Dansili may well run in a Breeders’ Cup event. The German seven-year-old Sommerabend already has three group races to his credit this season in France and he will now be retired to the Haras de Saint Arnoult.

The English challenger Baltic Knight never looked likely to be placed.
