ON October 27th the racing world will gather in London to pay tribute to the late Sir Peter O’Sullevan.

They will surely be reminded of the great charity work he did through his charitable trust and that work continues today.

One of the fund raising efforts each year is the publication of the Christmas card and this year’s card is Silver Morning, by Katie O’Sullivan. The production of the card is sponsored by Henrietta Duchess of Bedford.

IRISH Ambassador to France Geraldine Byrne Nason welcomed some 300 guests to Ireland’s embassy last Friday week for the now annual gala event at the start of the €4million Prix de l’Arc race weekend.

The embassy event is one of the main highlights of Ireland and France’s equine industry networking. The Ambassador underlined how successful the event is in building relationships between French and Irish trainers, jockeys and industry professionals and with a significant number of key business clients, including Enterprise Ireland client companies. Brian Kavanagh CEO of Horse Racing Ireland led the strong Irish contingent to Paris.

For the second year in a row, the event was attended by the Aga Khan who retains significant investment in Ireland’s equine industry. His daughter Princess Zahra Aga Khan was also there. Among the large gathering, were the president of France Galop, Bertand Belinguier, Herve d’Armaille, president of AQPS France association of horse owners and breeders, Dr Cyrus Poonawalla a key figure in India’s horse racing and breeding industry, and representatives of Longchamp sponsors Qatar.
