THE 106 timefigure registered by Zhukova in the coral.ie Alleged Stakes was easily the highest on the Curragh card, though her performance was overshadowed somewhat by the disappointing third in the same race of the Breeders’ Cup winner Found.

The latter has form on soft going but had not encountered anything quite like these conditions previously and ran a 95 time compared to her peak rating of 122.

The sole group race on the card – the Group 3 Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes over seven furlongs – went the way of Onenightidreamed, though this was another race which did not stack up especially well on the clock.

The winner’s time equates to a 100 timefigure, and the sectionals – which show that the leaders went quite quickly – suggest second and third, Flight Risk and Joailliere, have prospects of reversing placings another day.

The same may hold true with Callender, runner-up to The McGregornator in the opening two-year-old maiden, having looked all over the winner for most of the way. The winner’s timefigure of 68 does suggest this was not a strong race of its type, however.

The best time on the card relative to the abilities of the horses concerned occurred in the ordinary six-furlong handicap won by Mr Right (86 timefigure).

The interesting horse here could be fourth-placed Creggs Pipes, who faded after going pretty hard up front.

The Andrew Slattery-trained filly won at seven furlongs and this trip of six furlongs (off a mark 1lb higher than she ran off here) in 2015, and she seems to be coming nicely to the boil with other handicaps in mind.
