FLAT racing in Europe was fairly small beer outside the juvenile Group 1s dealt with elsewhere.

Mujbar ploughed through the mud at Newbury to win the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes, but with several unexceptional types on his heels and with just a 105 figure to show for it. Love Is You had strung her rivals out more in the preceding listed race, but in a slower time and gets a cautious 99.

Seven-year-old Euchen Glen has been one of the success stories of the season, and he bagged another group win in the Group 3 St Simon Stakes on the same card, confirming his 110 rating from previously.

Flying Visit emerged just best, over Wuqood and Carlisle Bay, in the Group 3 Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown, with a 104 time performance on what was borderline heavy ground.

He had far more experience than the pair he beat, who should yet build on their figures of 104 and 102.

The listed wins for Pythagoras at Pontefract and Lipizzaner at Doncaster weigh in at 97 and 103 respectively.

There were group wins on the continent for Boussac third Rougir (102) in the Group 3 Prix des Reservoirs at Deauville on Tuesday week, Jin Jin (112) in the Group 3 Prix Perth, Grand Glory (109) in the Group 3 Prix de Flore and Believe In Love (102) in the Group 3 Prix Belle de Nuit, all at Saint-Cloud, and Baron Samedi (112) in the Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris and Subjectivist (118) in the Group 1 Prix Royal-Oak, both at Longchamp.

Five-in-a-row

Baron Samedi was making it win number five in a row, having started his spree off a mark of just 65 at Cork in August. Intriguingly, he is still quoted in some places for the Triumph Hurdle!

Subjectivist seems a different proposition on soft/heavy than on the good-to-firm on which he came seventh in the St Leger at Doncaster, and he ran Valia (114), Holdthasigreen (111) and Princess Zoe (108 here, 114 when winning the Cadran at even farther) into submission from the front.

Vis A Vis (113) and Telepatic Glances (105) won the big two-year-old races at Milan on Sunday with efforts which show they can be competitive more widely.
