UNLIKE a few on social media, who seem to delight in running down achievements, I am very far from “bored” of the marvellous Winx’s astonishing run of success, which now stands at 30 wins in a row.

But I am finding it difficult to say anything original as her wins come along as if on a conveyor belt!

The latest was on Saturday at Royal Randwick in the Apollo Stakes, in which she took down the high-class Happy Clapper once again, but with some ordinary performers by group standards fairly close behind. Winx’s effort was probably around the 123 mark at the most, but she finds a way of winning come what may. She won’t be around forever, so let’s enjoy her while she is, eh?

Similar remarks, if not quite at such a stratospheric level, apply to Beauty Generation in Hong Kong. The world’s best turf miler made it six wins out of six this campaign in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday, arguably fractionally less impressive at 1400 metres than he has been at 1600, but still returning a 119 timefigure by my reckoning.

Sha Tin was the venue of Blue Point’s nadir of 2018 when he came last of nine there in April (and one of mine, as well, after I went on international TV to tell everyone he had an excellent chance).

But he has reminded people just how good he is on his day with wins since at Royal Ascot and last week at Meydan. The latter confirmed him as a 129 performer: there are very few as good as him in this sort of form.
