Earlswood

(J.M. Oxx)

Curragh September 27th

This Pivotal colt looked quite green for his debut on Sunday when he was never in a position to launch a challenge in the maiden won by Van Gogh. However, he finished out his race nicely over the last couple of furlongs to finish fifth and he should sharpen up substantially as a result of this run. He will be of considerable interest if running again this season.

Shelly Banks

(E. O’Connell)

Cork September 29th

Shelly Banks had shown definite promise in a couple of outings at Tipperary but she took a step forward during the week to chase home the well-backed winner Ascot Adventure at Cork. On this showing she might be able to win a sprint maiden before the end of the season.

Mutual Respect

(J.J. Hanlon)

Punchestown September 30th

There was definite promise from Mutual Respect this week when he took sixth in a maiden hurdle won by Formal Order. Admittedly this reasonable looking contest turned into a sprint from the turn in but this gelding travelled nicely and got into a challenging position early in the straight before fading to sixth. There should be more to come from him.

Champagne Gold

(H. de Bromhead)

Clonmel October 1st

This gelding showed promise in points and did so again on his racecourse debut where he chased home the useful Gold Des Bois who already had several useful pieces of form to his name. He can improve from this and a maiden hurdle success should be well within his reach.

Unconscious Mind

(J.F. Levins)

Fairyhouse October 1st

She began her season with quite an encouraging run in a Naas maiden but had struggled somewhat since then. A switch to claiming company brought about a respectable fourth to Taggalo on Thursday which suggested she could yet realise her potential before the end of the season.
