Harry Alonzo

N. Meade

Fairyhouse January 11

A close relation of several smart jumpers, this gelding started off brightly with a second to Five Bar Brian in an auction bumper at Fairyhouse last weekend. This represented a very creditable effort just over six months after he passed through the ring at the Goffs Land Rover Sale and it surely won’t be long before he is making his mark in a bumper.

Arakan Quest

B.R. Hamilton

Punchestown January 12

On his latest outing this six-year-old was beaten by less than seven lengths into fifth in a maiden hurdle won by Le Musigny at Punchestown last Sunday. This effort along with his third to Easywork and Mt Leinster in a maiden at Gowran Park two months ago would suggest that a maiden can come his way this season. He should find easier opportunities over the coming weeks.

Memory Of Youth

Mrs D. Foster

Fairyhouse January 14

This mare showed some promise in maiden hurdles and again offered some encouragement when finishing fifth to Grey Habit in a two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle on Tuesday. A mistake at the last flight accentuated the margin of defeat but she can be rated better than the bare result and a similar event may come her way this term.

Gold Des Bois

Mrs J. Harrington

Punchestown January 15

On his first start since finishing in midfield in a bumper at this track in May this former winning pointer ran better than his final placing would suggest when finishing sixth to Column Of Fire in a two-and-a-half-mile maiden hurdle. He could do no more once headed by the winner at the second last but he showed enough to suggest that he would be very competitive in a similar event next time.

Commander Lady

Mrs J. Harrington

Punchestown January 15

This mare was unable to make an impression on her first two outings but she showed more on Wednesday when fourth to Darrens Hope in a mares’ maiden hurdle. She was beaten by just under 25 lengths at the line but this effort represented a step in the right direction and she can progress further after just four runs.
