JESSICA Harrington’s remarkable run form continued into both Irish fixtures on Thursday and in the space of just over half an hour she helped herself to an across the card treble which made it 15 winners in three weeks for the stable. Firstly Harrington’s Cayenne Pepper did nothing to dispel the striking impression of her debut at Leopardstown last month as she made it two wins from as many starts in the Glenvale Stud Race over seven and a half furlongs.

The only winner in the five runner line up was returned at 4/9 and she won comfortably from the front with Shane Foley never having to get vigorous for her to defeat Royal County Down by a length. This daughter of Australia, who is among a stunning array of juvenile talent at the disposal of her trainer, is owned by American Jon Kelly and she could now tackle the Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown.

It was then the turn of the Foley-ridden Dame Kytler who returned from almost exactly three months off to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden over seven and a half furlongs. The even-money chance, who showed plenty of promise much earlier in the season, allayed concerns that the ground would be too quick her as she readily outpointed the 16/1 newcomer Call Me Dolly by two and a half lengths. In the colours of the Nore Racing Syndicate and Adolf Schneider, Dame Kyteler took some time to recover from a wind operation while she is expected to come into her own on easy ground.

For the second time in as many days Chris Hayes and Kevin Prendergast struck with an entrant for next week’s Tattersalls July Sale as Muntahez justified 7/2 favouritism in the Costello’s Tavern Handicap over nine furlongs. A stall 17 draw coupled with having to come from well back in a steadily run race made this a meritorious performance from the Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned three-year-old who pounced late to deny Imposing Supreme by a head.

Glory goes for export

FOR the first time in 10 years the Coolmore US Navy Flag Tipperary Stakes went for export as Strive For Glory built on a fine Ascot showing to give trainer Robert Cowell his first Irish success in three years. Strive For Glory came here off a fourth in the Norfolk Stakes and the saw him go off the 9/4 favourite for this five-furlong dash where he stopped the clock at 57.64secs. Billy Lee’s mount recovered from a tardy start to take charge over the last furlong and score by three parts of a length from Air Force Jet who showed his unplaced Norfolk run to be all wrong. “He did it well as he just jumped a bit slow and gave away a length at the start but I ended getting there soon enough on him. He’s a horse with a bright future and Robert was confident that the sound surface would bring out the best in him,” reported Lee.
