THE IHWT Thoroughbred Club sponsored a prize for the best-placed ex-racehorse at last weekend’s Dressage Ireland National Championships at Barnadown outside Gorey.

It was won by Kinsau who, in the hands of Westmeath category 2 rider Sofie Walshe, competed at both novice and elementary level, finishing second and third in the respective championships where Walshe (17) was the leading junior rider. The combination was also on the winning Under 25 regional team.

Kinsau, an Indian Danehill seven-year-old who comes from the family of Suny Bay, was pulled up on his only run in a point-to-point at Tinahely in January 2014. He was then trained, and ridden, by Ciaran Murphy for Sean Reilly who bred the bay out of the Beneficial mare Adonia.
