IN the continuing success of the professional rugby era in Ireland, much of the credit has reflected back on the structures and systems put in place at provincial and national level to support the development of talent and the ongoing development of players through a pathway system.

It takes time and sustained investment but the fruits that appear in the form of a conveyor belt of talented individuals helps to support the team structures at every level and, as in the case of the Leinster academy recently, ensures there are no shortages in key positions.

At RACE, we have been developing Junior Academy training events with the aim of offering aspiring young jockeys the opportunity to experience some professional training and development supports in advance of them being eligible to apply for a licence.

Coaching on riding skills and technique, simulator work, strength and conditioning and professional preparation are all on offer as part of a development pathway which can bring ambitious young riders along at an appropriate pace.

Upcoming dates for pony race riders along with application forms are available on the RACE website and places are filling fast so anyone interested in participating should contact us as soon as possible.
