POLLY STAKES (Group 1)

Turret Rocks: A listed winner at Gowran Park last time out. She finished third in this race at a big price last year but her overall form just falls short of the highest level. Will need one or two others to underperform if she is to claim the main prize.

Urban Fox: British raider who has placed at the highest level for previous stable but has been brought along slowly by new handler. Has to be respected on the pick of her form, particularly as the Haggas yard don’t bring that many runners over to Ireland these days.

Athena: May find life difficult in a race of this nature having struggled in lesser class up until now. A Fairyhouse maiden winner in May, she proved no match for a better fancied stable companion at Royal Ascot last month. Will need a career best if she is to cause an upset.

Bye Bye Baby: Has made most when winning her three races so will be ideally suited to this smaller field. No disgrace in third placed finish in the Oaks at Epsom last month when battling on bravely. Dropping back in trip will suit her running style so she must be given every chance.

Forever Together: Oaks winner who takes in this race en route to the Irish equivalent. She won the English classic with plenty in hand so has to be the one to beat here, even allowing for the drop back in trip. Ryan Moore takes the ride now and she looks the pick of her trainer’s trio.

Harvestfortheworld: Will need a career best to get involved here, although that would not be out of the question. A lightly raced, improving filly, she kept on nicely when placed at Group 3 level at this track on her latest start. She has more to find but cannot be ruled out with any great confidence.

Conclusion

FOREVER TOGETHER, who was an easy winner of the Oaks, really should prove too strong for this opposition. The drop back in trip is only a slight concern, as stablemate Bye Bye Baby is likely to go a strong gallop, ensuring the race falls into her hands.
