DANIEL King took the leading rider award with three winners and he teamed up with the Tyner family to take the 14.2hh race on Sunday with Crystal Lady. He made it two for Sunday when local owner Kieran Murphy provided him with the winner of the mile maiden race as Another Legend made most of the running for a popular win. Daniel got his third winner on Monday as Windy City took command to win for the Shanagolden, Co. Limerick-based Hayes family.
The Tyner family made it a double on Sunday as Bounce came through from last to first to win the 15hh race over a mile in the hands of Philip Byrnes.
SENTIMENTAL VALUE
This race is one of huge sentimental value to the Tyner family as it is run for the Ruth Tyner Cup, the late sister of Ernest and Robert. Sunday’s feature, the Ballabuidhe Derby went to Dingle owner Paul Hand who was partnered by Middleton, Co. Cork rider Brian Dunleavy.
Brian set sail for home with a little over three furlongs to travel and galloped resolutely to deny local hope Killian’s Pride.
Conor Walsh doubled up on Monday starting with the 13.2hh race as Hello Thunder made all to return to winning ways at the expense of Caherciveen conqueror Sore Looser. Conor also claimed the honours in the 14.2hh race as Sandycove reversed Sunday’s placings with Crystal Lady.
Newmarket, Co. Cork rider Andy Burke-Ott opened his career account on I’m On A Mission the previous week and they followed up with another win on Monday with a pillar-to-post win.
Coola Boola won the 2014 Dingle Derby under Jack Kennedy and he showed he still has ability as he took the 12-furlong race under Michael McGuane. Monday’s finale, a maiden race over 10 furlongs went to the Dick Foley-owned and trained Top Notch as Joey Sheridan brought him through to lead a furlong out.
