A MIGHTY well done to Paddy Woods from Julianstown, Co Meath, winner of the second leg of the Corinthian Challenge at Cork Racecourse last weekend in aid of Irish Injured Jockeys. Paddy is no stranger to the Corinthian Challenge as this is his third time taking part in the charity race series and the first time he has been first past the post so A+ for effort and achievement.

Fitness

Paddy adores racing and has several horses in training. Dalileo, the horse he won on, is his own horse trained by Johnny Murtagh where he rides out a couple of mornings every week to maintain race fitness. He’s definitely no slouch in the saddle having ridden in the Punchestown Charity Race and taken part in the gruelling Mongolian Derby over 1,000km of Mongolian steppe on semi-wild ponies.

Paddy’s mount Dalileo beat a fast-finishing Jazz Ranger and Heather Heffernan, owned by William Hurley and trained by James Fahey. Third place went to Richard Lombard who rode West Coast Time for trainer Joseph O’Brien in the colours of his racing club.
