KATHERINE McCormick and her father Richard were among the visitors at Ballylinch Stud, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny on a recent open day.

Jockey Steve Donohue said in his autobiography that Katherine’s grandfather Dick McCormick was the only other man who could stay on board ‘the spotted wonder’ without being unshipped.

Katherine visited Ballylinch with her father Richard, an equine veterinary surgeon based in Dunboyne and well known in racing circles.

The Tetrarch was unbeaten throughout a brief but brilliant career. Injury prevented him from racing on at three but he remains the most dominant two-year-old in history and a successful sire despite fertility problems.
