WELL done to all who supported the international polo action at the Phoenix Park last weekend (report A75) in aid of Irish Injured Jockeys. Patrick Mullins was man of the match and scored two goals and gave an outstanding performance in defence as well as attack but he was hotly pressed for the honour by the veterans Davy Russell and Barry Geraghty with Sean Flanagan giving a robust performance as well! And what bad luck to get his fall on Sunday at Tramore.

Sadly Paul Carberry had to cry off the day before having sustained a broken collar bone but he was there in technicolour roaring encouragement from the sideline with Tracy Piggott ably giving expert commentary from the stand on the public address system. Trainer Andy Oliver was another game participant.

The trainers beat the jockeys 6-3 having gone to extra time, proper order, and thanks to Godolphin who supported both teams.

Present from the world of racing were Noel and Derville Meade, Jessica Harrington, Willie and Jackie Mullins, Paul and Rachel Carberry, Leo Powell, Tracy Piggott and from eventing Bridget Speirs.

Organiser Siobhan Herbst is still counting the funds and hopes that the sum raised will be around the €9,000 mark.

Raise a glass or two of Pimms!
