FINAL-year Equine Business degree students of Maynooth University are running 100km in one day on four racecourses to fundraise for the Irish Horse Welfare Trust (IHWT).

On Saturday, December 5th, 21 students – divided into four groups – will visit the Curragh, Naas, Fairyhouse or Punchestown.

The event proceeds will help the IHWT pay for much needed upgrading to fencing at its facility in Wicklow. The students are looking for support from the equine industry and would greatly appreciate any donations.

Student Eoin Hyland says: “Despite the current pandemic, horse welfare remains an ongoing industry problem and a donation would go a long way in helping the IHWT to protect and rehome neglected horses.” Lectures for the students are currently being held online, and they are organising this event through Microsoft Teams.
