STUDENTS from Horse Racing Ireland’s Go Racing Student Society descended on Cullentra House Stables in Co Meath last Tuesday to meet some of the finest equine talent on the planet as Eoghan Moloney told Parrot.

“Students from various universities congregated at Gordon Elliot’s yard and were treated to an unforgettable experience meeting horses such as three-time Cheltenham winner Cause Of Causes, exciting novice Samcro and super mare Apple’s Jade.

“The group observed the daily routine and watched as, in pairs, the Elliott inmates powered up the steeply-inclined gallop. This was followed by a brief walk in a stream to cool down and loosen the horses’ muscles.

“Elliott then gave the rundown on the daily habits of his horses such as training patterns and fielded questions from the enthralled audience. His friendly staff escorted students throughout the entire yard, educating as they went and taking photos for anyone that wanted them.

“It was overwhelming that in this massive stable, where pressure to perform is constant, the group were granted such an in-depth tour and treated so well.

“It was an experience many will never forget.’’
