WELL done to McElligott’s Honda Tralee who sponsored ladies day at Listowel and for the first time included a prize for best dressed groom. It is a great initiative and an appreciated expression of the good will to the staff behind racing.
The team at McElligotts, Patrick McElligott managing director and Donal Lynch general manager were the prize’s promotors.
Cash competition winners paid out
WE had a terrific response to last week’s postal competition offering two €500 cash prizes. Our ‘monkey’ winners are Michaela Higgins from Cootehill, Co Cavan and Owen Davin from Ferrybank in Waterford. Thanks to all who entered.
Eamon’s at the dogs to win
BEST of luck to Annie Power’s breeder Eamon Cleary who owns a runner in tonight’s Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park. From Kildare, Eamon owns the joint favourite Ballyanne Sim, who will racing out of trap one in the €300,000 final. The race will be shown live on RTÉ 2.
Naas, good friend of the Ploughing
WELL done to Naas Racecourse on their quick-thinking initiative to offer free admission to last Wednesday’s races to those with tickets for the National Ploughing Championships, which was cancelled earlier in the day.
