CURRAGH trainer Dermot Murphy and three generations of his family visited the Curragh this week.

They were there to install a plaque beside an oak tree planted in memory of Dermot’s late father, Johnny.

Dermot said: “My father was a racegoer in the days when people travelled by pony and trap.

“He died about 30 years ago and I planted a tree at home to mark what would have been his 100th birthday.

The Curragh very kindly agreed to take the tree and it is lovely to think it will still be there when we are all gone.”
