THERE is a great line-up of racing coverage on Sunday on one of Parrot Mouth’s favourite channels, TG4.

Starting at 1.45pm, Rásaí Beo is back on with Seán Bán Breathnach, Mánus Ó Conghaile & Daragh Ó Conchúir with live racing from Naas in Co Kildare. Sarah Lynam is a new contributor.

Scheduled for 5.40pm, Laochra Na Rásaíochta takes a look at Ireland’s most famous National Hunt horses from the 1970s to the present day, recounting their brilliant feats through archive footage and interviews.

This episode tells the stories of Florida Pearl – the horse who really put Willie Mullins on the map as a trainer; Hardy Eustace – the two-time Champion Hurdle trained by Dessie Hughes and ridden by Conor O’Dwyer; and Moscow Flyer – the horse who catapulted Jessica Harrington and Barry Geraghty into the racing limelight.

Following on, TG4 will screen a preview of the Cheltenham Festival at 6.40pm. Presented by Denis Kirwan, it will be repeated on TG4 on the night before the festival, on Monday, at 7.30pm.

The preview features stable visits to Eugene O’Sullivan who is preparing It Came To Pass for a bid to win back-to-back St James’s Place Hunter Chases, this time without his regular amateur partner Maxine O’Sullivan; Shark Hanlon on his festival hopes for £600 purchase Skyace; Rebecca Curtis on Lisnagar Oscar’s bid to retain his Stayers’ Hurdle crown and then down to Beale Beach in north Kerry with trainer Michael Winters whose Chatham Street Lad will attempt to repeat his memorable Cheltenham success of last December.

Donn McClean and Dave Keena round off with a look at the main contenders for the principal championship races.
