THE gorgeous Don Cossack travelled to Aintree last weekend, where he found previous glory in the Melling Chase, to compete at the Retraining of Racehorses National Championships.

Unfortunately, he found the atmosphere there this time a bit much and his rider Louise Lyons decided to retire after a couple of classes.

SHOWING CLASS

He didn’t parade in the Always A Star parade, along with some other high-profile former racehorses, but he did compete in the Tattersalls Ridden Showing class.

Tattersalls sponsored the Retrained Racehorse Series 2018 in Ireland which saw so many lovely horses competing over the summer to share in the prize fund of €1,500 and to win the opportunity to travel to Aintree to compete there.

Un Atout won the championship final at the Tattersalls July show and Don Cossack was reserve, but Un Atout was unfortunately unable to travel on this occasion. There’s always next year.
