Not such a long way to Tipp for Kevin

BROADCASTER Kevin Blake and Deirdre Moloney were due to get married on May 9th but like so many, plans will have to be remade.

“Ah well, it’s not the worst thing compared to what is going on in the world but she’s not getting away!”

As well as writing blogs for At The Races and doing video calls for Betfair, Kevin has overseen the birth of five foals at home in Tipperary “and four mares are back in foal and all out to grass, done and dusted”.

“Something that is quite exciting for me is a colt which I sold at Doncaster, Ventura Tormenta by Acclamation out of my mare Midnight Oasis, is on Richard Hannon’s list of two-year-olds for Middleham Park Racing to be given priority against elimination when racing resumes. The mare has just had a colt foal by Camacho, more to look forward to. We can start broadcasting again now. The majority of ITV Racing will be produced via remote broadcasting for the first few weeks back. We’ll all be Zooming in and out from home, Ed, Francesca, Jason, me, the backroom team.

“Our lines have been tested and I have the fastest broadband of all in rural Tipperary. I invested in a better line and it’s made a massive difference, so well done Eir!”

Should make for some interesting viewing!

Godolphin workforce rising to the challenge

GODOLPHIN employees worldwide are raising money for local Covid-19 charities.

They want to reach their target of 28,300 miles (45,545km) – that’s the number of miles connecting Godolphin locations across the world.

From last Friday, May 22nd to Friday, June 26th, employees are running, walking, swimming, riding or cycling as many miles as they can to raise money for Covid-19, and help keep everyone active and healthy.

Hugh Anderson, managing director of Godolphin UK and Dubai said: “The Godolphin operation worldwide has adapted with great agility to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Away from our farms and the racetracks, it has been great to see so many of our staff carrying out fantastic work in their local areas but this sees us take our community spirit to the next level as we all come together to take on this challenge. 28,300 miles is long way – around the whole world in 36 days.

“Everything we raise will go to our charities to help our communities and industry,” he added.
