NAOISE Nunn, of the Cat Laughs Festival in Kilkenny and Eddie Scally, manager of Gowran Park Racecourse are overseeing the fruition of a long-hatched plan, a partnership between the comedy festival and racing, to take place on bank holiday Monday, June 6th.

It’s the 22nd year of the comedy festival and the 102nd of racing at Gowran Park so there’s much to celebrate.

Scally commented: “We are expecting a bumper bank holiday crowd to enjoy a feast of racing and comedy at our track on the Monday.’’

Irish comedian Al Porter said: “All the comedians are buzzing about this really novel event and we have an unforgettable day planned. We have mock bookies, parade ring interviews, comedy commentary and pop-up stand up shows.

“The line-up of comedians is simply breath-taking, aside from the brilliant Al Porter we also have from Ireland, Hector, Jason Byrne, Barry Murphy and Waterford Whispers News and international stars such as Jason Manford and Adam Hills. Tickets are already flying so I would recommend early purchase.” Tickets are on sale now at www.thecatlaughs.com or call Gowran Park box office on 056 77 26225.
