COMING up fast is one of the early highlights of the jumping season – the Fairyhouse Racecourse’s Winter Festival on Saturday, November 28th and Sunday, November 29th.
As well as the action on track, the Co Meath venue is gearing-up for their annual Christmas jumper competition in aid of Pieta House, which takes place virtually on Saturday, November 28th.
Racegoers are being encouraged to get into the festive spirit at home, wear their Christmas jumpers, share their photos with Fairyhouse on www.fairyhouse.ie and post photos on their social media channels using the hashtag #Fairyhousechristmasjumpers – the more personal and whacky the jumpers, the better.
Entry to the competition will be available on www.fairyhouse.ie on Saturday, November 28th from 9am to 6pm. Barry Geraghty will do the honours and will pick the winner who will be announced on Fairyhouse’s social channels on Sunday before the first race.
The winner will receive an overnight for two in the four-star Dunboyne Castle Hotel and Spa and a VIP trip to the 2021 Fairyhouse Winter Festival.
Stable staff’s jumpers
Stable staff are also encouraged to embrace the Christmas spirit and wear festive jumpers on Saturday, November 28th. The prize for best turned-out horse in each race will go to the groom with the best Christmas knitwear.
In the Christmas spirit the organisers at Fairyhouse are asking everyone to donate whatever they can to Pieta House - www.pieta.ie.
Kate O’Sullivan marketing manager of Fairyhouse, said: “We have had so much fun with the Christmas jumper competition over the last couple of years. Pieta House normally host a Darkness into Light walk at Fairyhouse and because it could not go ahead this year, we thought it fitting to nominate them as our charity partner. We appreciate any donations to help Pieta House with their important work.”
