On-course bookmaker Mary Carty married bookies’ clerk Joe Mitchell earlier this month in Tankardstown House, Slane, Co Meath. Mary has often been shortlisted for best-dressed prizes at the track and her wedding dress, designed by Patrick Casey, was a stunner. The party of 200 included many faces from the racecourse and we send our congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple

Pony racing at Glenbeigh (WWW.HEALYRACING.IE)

A SHORT film directed by Jonny Madderson will be available online from the end of November called Five Stone of Lead with the subject being the adventures of a 12-year-old pony racing jockey Dylan who is tiny, even for a jockey. Since stepping up a level he has to compete against older, stronger jockeys with more experience and at the races at Glenbeigh he has the chance to make a name for himself.

The film is one of an independent series of true-life short films called Postcards which can be found online at postcards.justsolondon.com (launching end of November 2015).
