THANKS to everyone who entered our Christmas quiz. A few of you incorrectly suggested Envoi Allen as the unbeaten horse who had raced 10 times and won five Grade 1s and a point-to-point. In fact ‘Envoi’ has run 11 times and the correct answer was Honeysuckle.

However, we made an error ourselves in saying Barry Geraghty had ridden all bar one of J.P. McManus’s six Cheltenham winners in 2020. In fact J.P. had seven, and so we accepted either Mark Walsh or Jonathan Plouganou as the correct answer.

A couple of entrants also failed to cite Twilight Payment as one of the three Jim Bolger-bred Group 1 winners within 10 days last year. One Meathman made it very clear to us that the Melbourne Cup “is only a handicap”. Oh dear, who is going to tell Jim the news?

The winners are Deirdre Gallagher (Athlone), Brian Finn (Greystones) and Sarah O’Sullivan (Kilteely, Co Limerick).
