A LUCKY bunch of 30 third level students from Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) Go Racing Student Society took the road to Willie Mullins’ yard in Closutton, Co Carlow, recently.
Students from Maynooth University, UCD, Carlow IT, Waterford IT, CAFRE, IADT and Dublin IT, spent the morning with the Mullins’ team where they got an in-depth stable tour, saw horses working on the gallops, met Ruby Walsh and some of Willie Mullins’ stable stars including Faugheen, Wicklow Brave, Min, Douvan and Un De Sceaux.
The students followed up with a fantastic day’s racing to Gowran Park for the Goffs Thyestes Chase race day.
The society is open to anyone currently in third level education. Joining the society is free and trips are discounted.
