NOT since Red Run has any other Grand National horse caught the imagination of the general public and last Wednesday at the Tattersalls International Horse Trials & Country Fair’s welcome reception, there was a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of racing history.
Dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll’s racing colours, signed by Michael O’Leary, Eddie O’Leary, Gordon Elliott, Davy Russell, Keith Donoghue and Lisa O’Neill were auctioned, with all proceeds of the sale going to the David Forster Injured Riders’ Fund.
And the colours made a whopping €4,600, thanks to the generousity of Carol Gee of Fernhill Sporthorses. Hope they bring you plenty of luck.
VETERINARY surgeon Richard McCormick bumped into retired jockey Tommy Murphy at the Curragh on Sunday.
Richard and Tommy combined in 1972 to win the Galway Hurdle and prestigious Carroll’s Hurdle at Dundalk with Hardboy. He was the first four-year-old to achieve that double.
