MATHEW and Margaret Fogarty have hopefully hit the jackpot again with one of their latest born foals, a full-brother to this year’s impressive Cheltenham Grand Annual winner Chosen Mate.
Mathew was just back from his allocated spot collecting feed from the Co-op in the morning on Wednesday.
“We’re here near Golden about 100 metres from Tommy Stack. I’m a dairy farmer and have had horses on the side for about 25 years. We have about six mares on the farm.
“I bred the dam of Chosen Mate and this latest foal out of my mare Norwich Star, who I also bred out of Lady Fourstar.
“I went to Well Chosen because I know Tom Meagher well (Kedrah House), it’s not too far away and he’s a Sadler’s Wells sire.
“And I went to the damsire Norwich because like Beneficial, he’s by Top Ville, sire of sires.
“I sold another full-brother to Chosen Mate at Goffs last year to my brother-in-law Michael Moloney for €18,000. The mare missed a few years. Now she has produced this fella who looks a fine foal and hopefully he will grow into a fine big horse.”
