The 2017 Point-to-Point & Country Fair at Dowth saw over 6,000 visitors gather for the Meath & Tara point-to-point.
The big crowd was again blessed by perfect autumn weather - only Jamie Codd left early - and he had a date in the Galway bumper to fulfil!
The entertainment included a country fair line up including the new addition of a dog show, mobile farm, falconry, bee keepers, as well as gun dog and fly casting demos, pony rides and the Slane GFC Skills Zone.
Foodies sampled the best of local artisan produce and enjoyed cookery demonstrations. Further treats were to be found food-on-the-hoof from awarding winning artisan food vendors. Younger guests enjoyed a wide range of free children’s entertainment.
A hotly contested Pony Club race for children and ponies was run after the last official race and was won after a fierce gallop by Alex Harvey.
The inaugural Dowth Dog Show included fun classes for many different categories and the overall prize of Best in Show which went to Rosco, the great Dane with prizes sponsored by Equipet.
Younger guests enjoyed a wide range of free children’s entertainment.
