Amazing that the only way we can stop a horse race in 2019 is with a yellow flag & a whistle! Sounds more like a Monty Python sketch!

What a mess racing is in. Farcical scenes as a race is voided and nobody explains why to the crowd. Big races clashing on TV coverage. And the powers that be close ranks. Saddens me and adds to my disillusionment with what should be a great sport.

Simple defence to independent panel is yes sir/madam if the flag was waved we would have indeed stopped however it was deployed in the manner of a directional signal rather than waved. Try and get off with a ticking off and enjoy Xmas.

I agree they should have stopped, but I can see why they didn’t, my argument is for the good of racing, just have a situation where there is no ability for confusion. Adrenaline and the heat of the moment can draw mistakes. The flag man should not have been stood in front of the fence.

@RacingTV is going to incur the usual abuse for showing Irish and British races simultaneous but what are they supposed to do? Punchestown were running 12 minutes late! The fault of the racecourse not making up time in between races, not the broadcaster.
