TONY Mullins enjoyed a terrific Galway Festival, winning two big pots with Princess Zoe, and he has his eye on two more big prizes for the grey with a trip to Longchamp on ‘Arc’ day, a distinct possibility.

“I had a chat with Paddy Kehoe at the weekend and we’ve decided to give her a month off. She ran four times in three weeks and while I had thought about the good staying handicap at Leopardstown on Champions Weekend, we’ll give that a miss and try and get her ready for the English Cesarewitch,” he said.

“She has jumped the baby hurdles and regardless of how good she is on the flat, Paddy wants to have a go at the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham. He has always wanted to have a horse good enough to compete at Cheltenham, he’s never had a winner there and he wants to go hurdling with her.

“I’d imagine that she’ll run on the flat at Newmarket or possibly the Prix du Cadran in the middle of October. Then we’ll school her and hopefully that will go well and the plan is to aim her at the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham. That is of course assuming that she takes to jumping, but I have no reason to believe that she won’t do that.

“She jumped the baby hurdle three or four months ago and she did that fine, so she’ll have an easy month now and go to Newmarket or Paris in October and then she’ll go for a hurdle race somewhere.”

Regarding her stable companion Party Playboy, who was second in last year’s Cesarewitch and who also sports the Kehoe colours, Mullins added: “He is due for a re-scan at the end of August and if that goes well, he’ll be back doing light exercise sometime in October. It would be a dream to have the two of them on the go for the winter.”
