PAUL Nolan has indicated that his exciting novice hurdler from last season Latest Exhibition is set to go novice chasing.

A Grade 1 winner at the Dublin Racing Festival, the seven year was only touched off by Monkfish in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham and Nolan reports the son of Oscar to be ‘in great shape.’

“He is back in about three weeks and he has a nice bit of slow work done and will go onto the sand now and then onto the woodchip in another few weeks. He looks great and he put on a nice bit of condition and we are taking things nice and slow with him,” Nolan stated.

“He developed into a very good horse for us last season hopefully he’ll do as well over fences. He has always jumped well and hopefully he’ll take to the fences and be lucky for us.

“It’s great to have a horse like him in the yard and he was our flag bearer last season and with a bit of luck, he will develop into a good staying novice chaser.

“It won’t be easy and there are lot of nice horses in the same boat and he has to go out and do it all again over fences, but it is exciting for everyone in the yard and we’ll take things nice and steady with him over the next few weeks. I have no date or race picked out yet – we’ll wait for proper soft ground before he’ll go anywhere.

“He is in very good shape and touch wood he’ll remain in one piece, and with a horse like him you’d be a bit nervous at this time of year, but as I said, it’s great to have a horse like him.

“He was one of the last horses to come in with all the other soft ground horses. He has loads of slow work done and we brought him back in there in the middle of July and like all the horses from last season, they all thrived there in the good weather when the country was shut down.”
