Batts Rock could make a successful start over timber. On his first two starts for Gordon Elliott, he won flat races at Bellewstown and the Curragh and then he was beaten just under 8l when finishing in midfield behind Limini in a premier handicap at Leopardstown last weekend. He appeals as the type to make a useful hurdler.

Pike Country has progressed well with each run so far and he was a clear-cut winner of a Ballinrobe bumper almost two months ago. He looks capable of playing a prominent role.

He has been in good heart on the flat and Try Again could make a winning return to jumping. A winner of a Roscommon handicap last month and third to Gentil J at Galway this week, he showed up well over hurdles during the summer when his form included placed runs behind the useful duo of Count Simon and The Last Indian. He can deal with Hearts Are Trumps who was beaten 1l by Icario in a 2m handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe four weeks ago.

The Listowel runner-up Misty Millie and the Kilbeggan maiden hurdle winner Silver Star are others that could get involved.

Se Mo Laoch has plenty of weight but he is a reliable type and he should go close despite being 6lbs higher than when winning a 3m handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan earlier this month when he defeated Queeny by a head.

He could be given most to do by Youngnedofthehill who comes into this off a creditable 3l second to Movingswiftlyalong in a 2m 4f Ballinrobe handicap hurdle.

After a series of decent runs at Killarney and Listowel, Messie appeals as one that should be able to play a leading role.

This could see Veneer Of Charm notch up his first success since his surprise triumph in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham. He recently returned from a break to finish eighth off a big weight in last week’s Lartigue Hurdle. He ran quite a solid race there to be beaten less than 8l and the benefit of that run and this longer trip can see him step forward.

Smitty Bacall would be a threat if he returns to the form that carried him to victory in a 2m 6f handicap hurdle at Killarney last month. Madison To Monroe is open to improvement and he progressed on his form in bumpers to win a 3m maiden at Tipperary in May when he was last in action.

Trainwreck can make a successful start over fences. This gelding was quite a good novice hurdler last season as evidenced by a smooth win off a mark of 126 in quite a useful 2m handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last Christmas. On his final outing last term, he was unable to make an impact in a Leopardstown Grade 1 won by Samcro but he appeals as one that should make a decent novice chaser.

Dis Donc is a dangerous rival. He was a deserving winner of a maiden hurdle here last February and he signed off with a decent fifth in a useful 2m handicap hurdle at Killarney in May. Its All Guesswork is respected having reached the frame on his first three outings over fences.

The reliable Lasoscar can notch up another victory. He is 7lb higher than when landing a near 2m 4f handicap chase at Kilbeggan last month and then was a decent second to Smitty Bacall in a 2m 6f handicap hurdle at Killarney. There could be more to come from him over fences and he can deal with Rightdownthemiddle.

The latter was unable to make an impact in a decent chase at Perth last time but he was a very easy winner over hurdles at that track during the summer and he does look quite well treated relative to some of his previous form over fences.

SELECTION: LASOSCAR

Behind The Curtain is a hopeful choice to strike for a partnership who were in tremendous form in bumpers earlier this season. He is a son of Curtain Time, whose progeny Noel Meade has done well with in the past, and he is out of a half-sister to six winners.

Buck’s Billionaire is respected after two solid runs although he probably will need to improve on his third to Steel Cap at Kilbeggan last time. Ask Nelius has progressed well from her debut to reach the frame in a Listowel bumper won by Scaglietti a fortnight ago.
