THERE were a few northern-bred winners during the past eight days, two of them by the former Ballyash Stud resident, September Storm.

The first of this pair to strike was the Victor Wilson-owned and trained Mon Storm who recorded his third success when he landed the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan last Friday in the hands of the in-form jockey Darragh O’Keeffe.

The eight-year-old bay was bred in Co Tyrone by Francis Small and is one of just four foals, and the only one named, out of the three-time hurdle winner Angie’s Double (by Double Trigger) who was a half-sister to the three-time flat winner Arch Event.

On Saturday, at Stratford, the John Kidd-bred Atlantic Storm scored for the second time over fences, and the fifth time in total, when landing a handicap chase for the Rob Summers yard. This seven-year-old September Storm gelding is the fifth of 11 foals out of the unraced Double Dream (by Double Eclipse), dam also of the King’s Theatre mare Tagrita whose seven wins included a listed hurdle.

One of Brian Hughes’s winners in the past eight days was the Keith Dalgleish-trained One Night In Milan who justified 2/1 favouritism in a handicap hurdle at Kelso.

The six-year-old Milan gelding, who was winning for the fourth time over timber, was bred by Fred Mackey out of the unraced Native Mo (by Be My Native), the dam of three other winners headed by the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup victor, Native River.

This week’s Listowel winner Jeremys Flame was bred by Anne Kirkwood and is the fourth of nine foals, and the second winner, out of the unraced Beneficial mare Supreme Beneficial, a half-sister to Kinburn and she is from the family of Miller Hill, Mighty Mogul, etc.
