THE Winged Love mare Razzle Dazzle Love is living up to her name as, having made all to win her bumper at Galway in early September, she repeated those front-running tactics to land the opening extended two-mile maiden hurdle at Punchestown on Tuesday.

While the Tom Gibney-trained six-year-old was eased down to win by three and three-quarter lengths under Noel McParlan at Galway, her winning margin on Tuesday, when she was partnered by Darragh O’Keeffe, was a massive 23 lengths over the 5/4 favourite, Hamundarson.

As related when she won in September, Razzle Dazzle is owned by Jimmy and Rosalind Allen of Co Down where she was bred by Deckie Lennon out of Rowdy Exit. That Exit To Nowhere mare’s five-year-old daughter All Loved Up (also by Winged Love), who is trained by Lennon’s brother Liam, finished fourth in the mares’ maiden at Tattersalls on Sunday behind the Stuart Crawford-trained Lady Boss.

At Market Rasen last Thursday week, the Lucy Wadham-trained Somekindofstar recorded his first career success, on his second start over fences, when landing the two-mile–three-furlong handicap chase under Bryony Frost. The seven-year-old Getaway gelding, who was bred in Co Antrim by Michael Millar, is out of the unraced Alderbrook mare Katty Barry, a half-sister to the blacktype winners Hey Big Spender and Miss Orchestra.

Doran-breds getting more wins

WHILE the four-year-old Leading Light filly Zoom Zoom Zoe did her family proud during the recently concluded jumps’ season in the USA, her two-year-older half-brother, Getting Closer, has been doing his bit in Britain.

As point-to-pointing resumed last Sunday, the Winged Love gelding brought up a double for trainer Alan Hill and rider Izzie Marshall when justifying favouritism in the Exeter Racecourse intermediate at Wadebridge.

The pair, who were bred by Danny Doran, are out of the unraced Tikkanen mare Sixofone who is a half-sister to the multiple winners Polivalante, Grand Souvenir and Air Vainqueur.

The Generous gelding Singing Banjo, who won his point-to-point maiden at Tinahely in February 2016, finally returned to the number one spot for a second time at Tattersalls last Sunday when landing the Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh memorial winners of one by three lengths.

The now 10-year-old, who was ridden by Barry Walsh for his trainer father John, was bred in Downpatrick by Joe Cunningham. He was the last of seven foals out of the Mister Mat mare Mille Fleurs who was placed on the flat and over jumps in France. This is the family of multiple winners Mister Banjo and Mister Boum.
