THE annual Saintfield Horse Show takes place at Tyrella House on Saturday, August 19th and Downpatrick Racecourse is once again sponsoring the racehorse to riding horse class.

This was won last year by Molly McCrory on Send For Paddy, Robbie Armstrong’s home-bred Mister Mat gelding who is among the entries for Tattersalls today having won the IHWT Thoroughbred Club retired racehorse qualifier at Castlewellan last Saturday.

Joan Cunningham, director of Saintfield Horse Show, was at Downpatrick last week where she launched the class along with racecourse director Noel Chance who will be judging the entries forward on the day.

“We are delighted to again be involved with such a prestigious racecourse,” commented Joan, while Downpatrick manager, Richard Lyttle, said: “We are very pleased to sponsor Saintfield Horse Show once more. The show has become one of the most popular on the equestrian calendar and just keeps getting bigger and better every year.”

Fabulous day out

The rider of the class winner will enjoy a fabulous day out at Downpatrick’s Ladies’ Day Bank Holiday meeting on Monday, August 28th when they will treated to lunch in the racecourse’s hospitality suite. All competitors in the class will receive a beautiful rosette and two tickets for the Ladies’ Day fixture.

The final of the Down Royal racehorse to riding horse series takes place tomorrow at Lessans Livery Yard in Saintfield and the following six horses have qualified: Princeton Plains, Randalstown, Keepthechinup, Gimli’s Axe, Mossbank and The Grassy.
