HOPEFULLY Downpatrick breeder Colin Kennedy showed more faith in Trading Punches than punters did at Chepstow on Tuesday as, on his fourth start, the Elzaam colt landed the seven-furlong two-year-old maiden at odds of 25/1.

Winning the 15-runner race by five lengths, the bay is the last of eight recorded foals out of the three-time winning Efisio mare Kiralik, whose 2013 Lilbourne Lad filly, Nouvelli Dancer, has won five times this year. Kiralik is a half-sister to at least six winners including River Belle (by Lahib) who won at Grade 2 and Group 3 level and was Grade 1-placed.

Pensax Lad, who was the last recorded foal bred by Seamus and James McMullan out of the Kalaglow mare Betelgeuse, won on grass for the first time in just under two years when claiming the five-furlong handicap at Sandown on Friday.

The winner of eight races in total, five on all-weather tracks, the five-year-old Verglas gelding is a half-brother to, among others, the dual-winner Kachina Doll (by Mujadil), who was Group 3-placed, and a full-brother to the listed-placed Mr Lavallette.
