FLAT jockey Sammy Jo Bell, who is still recovering from the pelvic injury she suffered in a fall in May, is back in north Yorkshire following a recent two-week break at home in Templepatrick, catching up with family and friends.

Mainly spending her time with her mother Jackie, Sammy Jo brought her niece Mia to Maralin one day to watch younger sister Sophie, Mia’s mother, ride in a schooling race and went with boyfriend, and fellow jockey, Philip Makin as he tried out, and bought, a new coloured horse. Philip also enjoyed two days’ hunting with Wilson Dennison.

Sammy Jo has an appointment to see her surgeon later this month. “Hopefully, he will pass me to start riding so I aim to go back riding at in Richard’s (Malton trainer Richard Fahey) in January,” said the 25-year-old who features in a recently-published JETS4jockeys video ‘JOCKEY MATTERS: Injury - Returning to Riding’.
