Micro Manage can make a winning start over hurdles. He looked a pattern-class horse in the making when bolting up in a Curragh handicap last year and returned from a lengthy absence to run a good third in a Group 3 back at that track in August. He couldn’t improve on that when seventh in the Irish St Leger next time but he remains a horse of huge potential.

He can deal with Get My Drift who progressed from a pleasing debut at Wexford to take third behind Sea Ducor in a useful conditions event at Gowran Park last month. He is another who should have more more to offer.

This could see El Barra make a successful start over hurdles. He showed lots of promise to chase home Fury Road in his sole point-to-point outing and he began his career on the track with an ultra smooth success in a Thurles bumper last month. That display suggested that he could make up into a jumper of real substance.

He can keep Wide Receiver at bay. The latter would probably prefer longer but he did run well to be placed at Grade 3 level over this trip last month. In addition his latest second to Ashdale Bob received a huge boost when the latter won a Grade 2 last week. He deserves respect.

SELECTION: EL BARRA

Next best: Wide Receiver

Zanahiyr should take beating. He progressed from a pleasing debut over hurdles at Ballinrobe to dominate a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse last month when he handed out a 14l beating to Saint Sam. At this stage he looks a high-class juvenile hurdler and he sets the standard in this division.

His biggest dangers could come from a couple of French recruits and Busselton looks very interesting. He has run just once over hurdles and that effort yielded a victory at Auteuil in May which would indicate he is a horse of some potential.

Ha D’Or is a winner on the flat in France from his only start. The runner-up from that race has since won at Auteuil and he too looks a horse of considerable promise.

SELECTION: ZANAHIYR

A hopeful vote goes to Guiri who shaped a lot better than the final result would suggest on his last start. On that occasion he was beaten 16l into fifth by Make Good in a Gowran Park handicap but the winner of that race has since gone on to win at Grade 2 level at Cheltenham and the fourth has also won since. There is more to come from this gelding as a hurdler.

His biggest threat could come from Rebel Gold who has run two nice races in beginners’ chases and his most recent outing over timber yielded a victory of Winner Takes Itall in quite a reasonable handicap hurdle at Punchestown in September.

SELECTION: GUIRI

Cusp Of Carabelli must have a strong chance. He has put together a string of good efforts over a variety of trips lately and he showed that a nice handicap over this trip could come his way when he finished a very respectable third to Sizing Pottise in a Grade B contest at Fairyhouse a fortnight ago. A repeat of that effort would make him a contender.

Emily Moon is interesting. She has run better than her final position would suggest on her last two outings and her most recent start at Fairyhouse would suggest that she might appreciate coming back in distance. A good run from her would not surprise. Timoteo and Top Moon could be others to keep in mind.

SELECTION: CUSP OF CARABELLI

Joseph O’Brien has quite a formidable record in this race and he fields a fascinating newcomer in Collins. This French-bred is an especially well-bred sort as he comes from a great flat family that has produced the likes of Montjeu and and Galileo Gold. It wouldn’t surprise if he were good enough to win this.

Cool Jet is another interesting contestant as he represents Willie Mullins. The trainer has already sent out a good bumper winner by the sire in recent weeks and this gelding is out of a half-sister to the Cheltenham winner Cousin Vinny.

Top Bandit made quite a promising debut at Sligo a couple of months ago and is another to keep in mind.

SELECTION: COLLINS
