1:25 TOTE IRISH EBF FILLIES MAIDEN (PLUS 10 RACE) 7F
An interesting maiden but not exactly an attractive betting heat with the majority of the field having their first run. A lot of the interest comes in the form of John Oxx’s Raven’s Hat, his first runner for Godolphin. The daughter of Raven’s Pass has been given plenty of time and will more than likely need this run for experience.
The same can be said of Dermot Weld’s Chilled White but she is a little bit more interesting on the basis that the yard’s two-year-olds have been running well recently and she is related to two black type fillies who both won on their first run. Elsewhere, Hence disappointed when he was beaten at odds-on at Dundalk but may be able to do better back on turf now.
Selection: CHILLED WHITE

1:55 TOTE IRISH EBF (C & G) MAIDEN (PLUS 10 RACE) 7F
With the benefit of a run, Full Moon will be difficult to beat. Aidan O’Brien’s colt finished third to Tony Martin’s Nibiru (runs in a Group 3 later on the card) at Naas and there was enough in his performance that day to suggest he can pick up a maiden like this, with the benefit of experience now behind him.
There are a number of well bred horses representing well regarded stables in the line-up but not many have caught fire as of yet. For that reason Flavius may be able to feature prominently on his racecourse debut. Dermot Weld’s American bred is out of Grade 2 winner Starformer and it will be interesting to see how he goes.
Selection: FULL MOON
Next best: Flavius
2:30 THETOTE.COM IRISH EBF FILLIES NURSERY (PLUS 10 RACE) 7F
It might be worth taking a chance on Jessica Harrington’s Its My Turn in this valuable nursery. She could only finish 10th to Lightening Quick in a maiden over this course and distance on her previous run but that race has produced lots of winners since and this daughter of Dream Ahead could be well treated now off a mark of 75. It will be just her fourth ever run and her first in a nursery so she has the scope to improve as well.
My Silver Nails and Miss Zizi are on the shortlist but both are coming off disappointing performances which isn’t ideal. In contrast Augustine Leahy’s Drombeg Dawn comes into this off a career best when winning a similar contest to this at Cork. His rating has risen 6lbs as a result but he should be at least competitive again.
Selection: ITS MY TURN
Next best: Drombeg Dawn
3:05 THETOTE.COM KNOCKAIRE STAKES (LISTED) 7F
David O’Meara’s So Beloved sets the standard, with a rating of 112, and comes into this off possibly a career best effort when a closing in second to Aclaim in the Prix de l’Opera. That said he has been done no favours by the draw, out in 14, and it may be worth looking for a bigger-priced alternative.
Both Flight Risk and Texas Rock are respected but it may be worth taking a chance on Timothy Doyle’s Spanish Tenor. The three-year-old has a bit to find but he does have the scope to find it as he has improved on his last three starts. In all he has only ran nine times, he is a course and distance winner and he has a decent draw in stall five.
Selection: SPANISH TENOR
Next best: So Beloved
3:40 win big with tote handicap (7f)
Natalia Lupini’s Blairmayne ran a huge race to finish third in the “Bold Lad” Sprint Handicap at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend and he has a decent chance in this lesser event. The four-year-old was racing from 6lbs out of the handicap at the Curragh so is effectively running off a 1lb lower mark here. He is probably better over 6f but he does have bits of form over 7f and 1m so may be able to handle the step up.
Elsewhere in a field where a lot of runners are out of form, Invincible Ryker stands out as a three-year-old with just six runs on the book and so further scope to improve. Keep Believing also comes here in good heart, having won on his penultimate run at Roscommon and then finishing a competitive fourth off his revised mark at Cork.
Selection: BLAIRMAYNE
Next best: Keep Believing
4:15 THETOTE.COM EYREFIELD STAKES (GROUP 3) 1M 1F
Jim Bolger has won the last three renewals of this race, including the 2015 running with Moonlight Magic, so for that reason his only runner in the race Cimeara, a Vocalised filly, is respected. That said, she will need to improve a good deal from her debut to get involved against Aidan O’Brien’s pair Saracen Knight and Flag Of Honour, who was luckless in his run when finishing fifth to Ghaiyyath in a Group 3 at Newmarket.
Burgundy Boy is interesting at the top of card for Sheila Lavery. He did very well to finish so close to today’s Racing Post Trophy contender The Pentagon over seven furlongs at this track on his previous run. This longer trip of nine furlongs should suit him and if he can progress again he will prove tough to beat. Dermot Weld’s Hazapour, who won nicely at Galway last time out, could well be up to making his mark here as well.
Selection: BURGUNDY BOY
Next best: Flag Of Honour
4:50 TOTE OCTOBER HANDICAP (PREMIER HANDICAP) 1M 4F
Mawaany deserves to win one of these valuable handicaps as he has been there or thereabout on each of his last three starts. He has gradually moved up the weights as a result but that said, this race doesn’t look as deep as some of the contests he has faced already this season. Artful Artist and Wonder Laish ran respectably in the Irish Cesarewitch, which was run in terrible conditions at Navan, and both should be suited to a shorter trip and better ground now.
However the selection is Ellmarie Holden’s Ex Patriot who was seriously progressive over hurdles last season and significantly has held his form well on his two starts this season. That all adds up to him being potentially well handicapped on the flat off a mark of 78. He previously raced on the level for Ger Lyons and showed a decent standard, twice finishing close to the useful Twilight Payment.
Selection: EX PATRIOT
Next best: Mawaany
5:20 TOTE MAIDEN 1M
This is not an overly inspiring maiden to close the card, with a number of the prime contenders well exposed horses. The exception is Jim Bolger’s Free Ranger who has had just three runs and has improved on each one. Another bit of improvement from his second to Roman Seera at Cork would see him difficult to beat.
Curly Girl’s perceived chance of winning may be enhanced should Invincible Ryker, the horse who beat her on her previous run at Dundalk, win the 7f handicap earlier on this card. Either way, she is a solid if not spectacular filly and should go well.
Selection: FREE RANGER
Next best: Curly Girl
