The Long Mile

(J.P. Dempsey)

Fairyhouse, February 27th

This progressive gelding was stepping out of handicap company in last weekend’s Bobbyjo Chase and posted a creditable effort to be beaten just under eight lengths into third by Acapella Bourgeois.

He has already won a good handicap chase this season but this effort suggested he could be a player in another quality handicap before the end of the season.

Desire Du Large

(J.P. O’Brien)

Naas, February 28th

He was making his first appearance since December 2018 when finishing third in a Grade 2 novice hurdle won by Echoes In Rain.

This represented a heartening comeback and would suggest that he will have little difficulty making his mark in a maiden hurdle over the coming weeks.

Walter Grey

(F.G. Hand)

Naas February 28th

He belied odds of 100/1 on his debut in a smart looking winners’ bumper where he was beaten just under four lengths by the talented Gerri Colombe. In finishing ahead of a couple of decent previous winners he has shown himself to be a well above average sort with a nice future.

Chinx Of Light

(B.J. Fitzgerald)

Punchestown, March 1st

A well bred own-brother to a number of decent winners, he was allowed to go off at 66/1 for his debut in a two-and-a-half-miles maiden hurdle in which he finished second to Panda Boy. This represented a bright start from him and he won’t be long in making his mark.

Easca Peasca

(B.R. Hamilton)

Gowran Park, March 2nd

A winner on the flat in the autumn, he progressed nicely from his first run over timber to chase home An Epic Song in a maiden at Gowran on Tuesday.

He won’t have to improve on this to win a juvenile maiden hurdle before the end of the season.
