Lord Rapscallion
(J.P. Murtagh)
Fairyhouse, September 23rd
After struggling to find his form through the first half of the season, he has put together several decent runs lately. His second to the subsequent winner Bigger And Better on Monday was his best effort of the year and would suggest that he will be able to add to his tally over the coming weeks.
Flaming Moon
(M.J. Smith)
Fairyhouse, September 23rd
This two-year-old son of Born To Sea shaped up well on his debut to chase home Schroder’s Mistake in a six-furlong auction maiden on Monday. He attracted plenty of support at big prices and produced a performance to match, while his ability to handle slow ground should enable him to make his mark before the end of the season.
Belle West
(W.J. Burke)
Sligo, September 25th
On her second start over fences, she produced an encouraging effort to take third in the mares’ beginners’ chase won by the potentially smart Moskovite. Her rating over hurdles is such that she will qualify for all the restricted beginners’ chases over the next number of weeks and she could make her mark in one of those races before long.
Epona Plays
(W. McCreery)
Gowran, September 26th
An Australia half-sister to a couple of very useful sorts, this filly belied odds of 50/1 for her debut to take fourth in the maiden won by the very promising Even So. She should improve considerably for this run and appeals as one that could make up into a very useful middle-distance type next year.
Pasley
(J. O’Brien)
Gowran, September 26th
He was unable to justify favouritism on his first start for five months in a 50-75 rated handicap won by Bigger And Better. However, he did run well and, after coming under pressure sooner than a number of his rivals, kept on nicely in the straight. He will win races before the end of the season.
