Gabynako

(G. Cromwell)

Leopardstown, February 6th

Already a Grade 1- and Grade 2-placed novice hurdler over longer trips this season, he had to settle for a midfield position behind Drop The Anchor when dropping back to two miles last weekend.

However, a bad early mistake did not help his cause and, under the circumstances, he wasn’t disgraced in being beaten just over 18 lengths by the winner. This experience should stand him in good stead later in the season.

Rescue Package

(A. Mullins)

Leopardstown, February 7th

She finished at the rear of the field in the mares’ handicap won by Heaven Help Us but this run is best forgotten.

Just as she was threatening to make up some ground she was hampered by the fall of Tintangle at the second last after which she lost all chance of making any sort of impression.

This was not her true showing and she can leave this form well behind in due course.

Galopin Des Champs

(W.P. Mullins)

Leopardstown, February 7th

After a very disappointing effort at Limerick over Christmas where he was pulled up, this five-year-old shaped up much better when going off at 100/1 for the novice hurdle won by Appreciate It where he finished a very respectable sixth.

On this showing he should hold his own in decent company for the remainder of the season.

Koshari

(W.P. Mullins)

Leopardstown, February 7th

He defied a huge absence to win at Cork last month and backed up that effort with a creditable sixth-place showing in the handicap won by his stablemate Maze Runner.

A bad early mistake did not help his cause and those held up off the pace struggled to get involved, so he probably did run better than the final result would indicate.

Goose Man

(T.J. Taaffe)

Leopardstown, February 7th

On his first completed start in over a year and a half he caught the eye with a sixth-place finish in the Leopardstown Chase won by Off You Go.

He can surely improve off this effort and that will make him a major force in decent handicaps for the rest of the season.
